My Dearest Mother,
Thank you very much for your letter received last Monday. Am jolly glad to hear you are all fit and also that the tobacco prices have been so good up to now. Thanks also for Phyllis’ letter. No I did not feel the earthquake or volcano or whatever it was, in fact when you mentioned it was the first time I had heard anything about same.
Went to a cabaret last Saturday evening. It was not a bad show and as it was the first I had been to for quite a long time I quite enjoyed the show. My partner was also a bit of all right so that also helped.
Am a member of the Bulawayo young peoples Club and they had a dance last evening. It was also not a bad show.
Am playing rugger again. My ankle is better after giving it a rest for 3 weeks but am now only playing second league Is Harry playing rugger this season and how

how is the Inyagura team getting along.
Shifted into the Sussex Hotel at the end of last month It is allright [sic] so far, but will soon tire of it I expect. My room-mate has a wireless so we are quite comfortable. The room wasn’t exactly built last year but it is not too bad.
Well dear Mother I cant think of any news at all so must close now hoping this finds you fit as it leaves me.
Much love to all
Your loving son
Donald.
