ABOVE LEFT :- The operation on HOMBERG oil refinery on 20/11/44 was an unfortunate one for our squadron because we lost 3 aircraft. The photo is of an aircraft which exploded as we neared the target and the photo at BOTTOM LEFT shows the burning pieces of an aircraft dropping after it had had a direct hit. ABOVE :- Bombs exploding in a built-up area when we attacked the same target the next day.
