Dear Mr Madgett,
Thank you for your letter, but I was sorry to receive the news it contained. It’s doubly tough considering Hedley had nearly completed his tour. There is quite a good chance of him having baled out, and I do hope you’ll give me any further news you receive.
I feel there’s very little I can say, but I’m certain you’ll understand.
Please give Mrs Madgett my kind regards.
