Dear Mr & Mrs Madgett
Thank you so very much for your kind letter, and trouble you have gone to, to try and get in touch with me, it was quite by chance I picked the evening paper up and see your name and address, it suddenly came to me, Arthur told me his pilot lived at Sidcup & looking up at the photo of his plane I see your name, I decided to write on the off chance, it was the right one.
And to think your dear son was 21 years old last Monday the day in our lives we all so look forward to, and to think he could not be with or near you, it does seem hard.
I greatly appreciate your kindness in offering to take my son s names & number to the Red Cross, losing my dear husband a few months ago
[page break]
I have to go to business all day & have very little time to spare to do anything.
I also thank you for sending Mrs Palks address.
My daughter shares with me her many thanks for your kind letter & any trouble.
Trust all is well with our dear boys.
I remain yours very
Sincerely
D Souter
