Description

Two young men wearing jacket and tie standing in front of a tree. The man on the left holds a book. Reported as two of Cheshire's friends at Oxford. On left is Thomas Peter Kingsland Higgs, known as Peter, who served with 111 squadron Fighter Command and was the first pilot killed in the Battle of Britain July 10th 1940. John Niel Randle on the right, known as Jack, served with the Royal Norfolk Regiment and was killed in the Battle of Kohima, North East India 6 May 1944 for which he was awarded the VC posthumously. Additional informational about this item was kindly provided by the donor.
