Dear Mummie
I hope sincerely you are very well, I am and so is Ian. I'm not at all homesick, with the exception of last night. Last night we had a lecture [deleted] last [/deleted] on Newland past and present. I have had a letter from blue Gran; and so has Ian. Thank you for your post card. At Waterloo there was an old fashioned carrigge [sic], the kind with the driver behind. We also saw Carry looking out of her window at the train. I'm most probably going to be in the Fourth Class.
I'm very sorry but there is no more news so much love from
DAVID
P.S. Donaldson Major is looking after me very nicely
