London, E.C.3. 19th Sept. 1946
Dear Mr. Donaldson,
Archibald has had to leave the office early, and I don't know whether he has written to you. In case he hasn't, I send you this line to confirm that we shall be glad to take you on the staff here. Starting on Monday next 23rd inst., at a salary of £500 p.a. Unless therefore I hear from you to the contrary, we will expect you then.

For the reasons I explained, toy would start with a seat in Archibald's room tho' very likely it will be possible fairly soon to make some other arrangement.
