Dearest Dave
sorry I have been so long in finding out what you wanted – Your man can write to the Magistrates Clerk of the Local Bench where he resides, & asks [sic] for a summons for application for legal custody of the child (Guardianship of Infant Acts 1886 – 1925) . We had a case of an Airman who applied for a summons under that Tuesday - His other course would be to apply to the N.S.P.C.C, who would investigate the case for him talk to his wife, & see if she could be persuaded to mend the error of her ways & look after the child
[page break]
properly, in which case he would simply write to the Inspector – Local Branch (or nearest Branch) of N.S.P.C.C. - I hope that information is of some use to you.
I was home yesterday for an hour or so & when I arrived & a strange man [inserted] in [/inserted] [deleted] outside [/deleted] the garden who turned out to be Hugh Arnold, he looked so well, & seems very happy with his wife & daughter, they live in Camden Street just off Church St. I have got his address, & if when you come up for your jaunt to Buckingham Palace we must see if we could get them to come along – I'm just writing to Joyce so I will continue to chat in her letter -
Love from Mummie
