I got an awful shock yesterday so I really don’t know how you will feel but we must hope & trust that he will be taken prisoner then things will come alright again in time we all think here he will be safe he has been very lucky so far so we will try to look

on the bright side for a time although it take a lot of doing. I went down to tell Grandad he was terribly upset I told him when I got more news from you I would let him know at once. I had’nt [Sic] been well all the week end just the date again had got me down. I hope the Boys are well & your [Sic] Mother & Father sorry I cannot write more now I feel too full. Just try to keep yourself going and hope for better news. XXXXXX
