My dear Kathleen,
It was so nice to hear from you, and I am so grateful for the kind thoughts you have given me. Somehow in times of trouble we can always find that old ties and loyalties are very strong and comforting.
What an awful strain you must be undergoing just now. I will be thinking of you often, I think I know how you must feel, and I will hope for you too. I know you will be putting up a brave show and none knows better than I what it costs.
I did not know that you had two sons, how lovely they must be. Jeremy is very sweet, and already he is quite a comfort. I am longing

to hear him talk though.
I am still keeping on my home & live alone, but I think it is worth it for Jeremy’s sake. I am trying to carry on as I would have done if Gerry had been here.
As soon as Jeremy is old enough probably in the spring, I will certainly come and see you, and if you have any opportunity I would like you to visit me, anytime you would be most welcome.
There is no need for me to tell you to keep on hoping, I will pray that you may get good news soon. In the meantime, we women must have courage to carry on or otherwise our menfolk will have made their sacrifices in vain.
Would like to hear from you occasionally, and thank you again for writing.
Sincerely,
Gladys.
