Wednesday.
My Dear Kath,
Vera Drinkwater has just told me the terrible news, Kath I just can’t believe it it [sic] doesn’t seem possible.
It seems so wrong that this had to happen after all Vera has gone through
I thought I’d write to you I’m sure you are very upset it’s such a blow.
I hope you and the boys are keeping alright – if you come into Chester in the near future please let me know then I could meet

I haven’t much to say Kath, its’ all too terrible.
