305 Squadron was one of four Polish Squadrons in Bomber Command. It was formed at RAF Bramcote in August 1940 with Battles but in December 1940 it moved to RAF Syerston in 1 Group and converted to Wellingtons. Between then and September 1943 the squadron was based successively at RAF Lindholme, RAF Hemswell and RAF Ingham. In September 1943 the squadron was transferred to the Second Tactical Air Force equipped with B-25s and, later, Mosquitos.
