R.A.F. BOMBER COMMAND’S ATTACK ON TOURS AIRFIELD.
Aircraft of R.A.F. Bomber Command attacked the airfield at Tours on the night of May 7/8. Earlier, aircraft of the VIII U.S. Fighter Command attacked the airfield at Tours on the night of May 7/8. Earlier, aircraft of the VIII U.S. Fighter Command attacked this airfield on April 28th and 30th April. These photographs were taken after the last attack by R.A.F. Bomber Command. The sum of the attacks were distributed among the North, South and West Hanger areas, damage being heaviest in the Main Station Buildings, and barracks many of the buildings being destroyed.
PICTURE SHOWS: - After the attack on Tours airfield by aircraft of R.A.F. Bomber Command on May 7/8. Great damage had been done to installations, buildings, barracks and hangars. The area shown in this photograph is the same as that in Photo No. C. 4347.’
