My dearest Jean
Just a few lines to keep you informed of the situation, not much more news I’m afraid but some things are definate [sic].
Firstly we are not going to the other squadron for overseas and we shall not go to Transport Command as our age group is too low the minimum is 28 also only those with less than seven bombing operations are required, so no Transport Command

It seems increasingly evident that we are due for the scrap heap in other words redundant, there’s a faint chance we may just go to a squadron just to fill in time. The crew will be split up and we shall probably be landed with ground jobs, when we shall be posted I don’t know, if nothing definate [sic] comes through by Thursday I shall see the Wing Commander though I dont suppose I shall get much sense out of him as we are in fact unwanted and waiting for posting, however I’ll let you know later on.

Dad today, they’re all O.K and have just received the Council permit to go ahead with the kitchen, so thats one thing straightened out. Aunt Lill wrote also, said she would be glad to see us when I get some leave, – I wonder when?
I’ve just been busy fitting the space tank into the car, have cleaned it and at the moment have collected seven gallons of petrol with more to follow next Friday if I’m here.

write about, have’nt been out since last Friday when I went to the Beyton and yesterday had a bobs worth at the Station flicks, saw “Waterloo Road” a British film, quite good, in it John Mills gave some hints on getting home without [deleted letter] a leave pass, it started putting idea’s in my head.
Cheerio for the moment, remember me to Mother & Dad.
All my love darling, keep your fingers crossed for the 25th.
