Mr. B. Luke,
Air Service Training,
Hamble, Southampton.
Dear Sir,
[underlined] N. I. POWELL. [/underlined]
I have had a request from the above named ex member of my air-crew for my help and I felt that it may be beneficial to him if I wrote you direct.
Sgt. Powell joined my crew in February 1945 as Flight Engineer and continued in that capacity until January 1946. During those eleven months we completed approximately 315 hours flying together and I found him to be a very excellent crew member and Engineer. In my opinion he was one of the best Flight Engineers on the squadron with an amazing knowledge of Liberator a/c. and an uncanny ability at fault finding, which proved invaluable to us and also to experienced ground crews on numerous occasions.
Sgt. Powell proved his ability to me and I feel confident that he is particularly suited to a/c. engineering.
