Dear Bessie
I’m very sorry I’ve not written before but I knew there was someone else to write to but anyway I dont [sic] know your address, & I hope you get this OK. Well how are you getting along. Alright I hope, same as me. I’ve got nothing to do only sit & write letters, or lay down & rest while morn. When its time we just get our things

rush over to a big shed & stand in three ranks in rows all down the length of the shed. Then the 1st lot of threes move off, & so on till its our turn & then we get our meals. Its all queing [sic] here (I think that is how you [deleted] [indecipherable letter] [/deleted] spell it) I’ve only been away from home 3 days but is [sic] seem queer not hearing from them. I’ll let you know when you can write to me & where, in the meantime Ill [sic] let Mam send these letters on to you I went to Chaple [sic] this morning with 3 Welsh lads & I enjoyed it & we’re going to Comunity [sic] singing tonight

& they’ve asked me to go with them so I think I will Well I think thats [sic] all for now
