Jack and his bride on their wedding day. Alongside are best man, bridesmaids and parents.
Their marriage was at Christ Church, Crouch End Hill, North London, 21 December 1942. The bridesmaid third from left is Morfydd Jones, Jack’s youngest sister. The best man was one of Jack’s police colleagues who would later spend time in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. There were only 12 guests allowed at the reception. None of Jack or Lily’s siblings were able to attend. As Jack was still training this was the third attempt at arranging the wedding date.
