Dear Jean
Thanks a lot for your welcome letter recieved [sic] today.
I had quite a few laughs out of it espetialy [sic] the H.G. route march to Hoff pub, that is just like Drummer he always did like his drink.
Could you find out where George Whiting is stationed in London for I go there practicaly [sic] each weekend, and could probably find him.
By the way Alfie Fisher’s girl used to be Parlour maid up at the Castle – I know her quite well –
[page break]
You seem to have a gang of little devels, [sic] but when you look back we were as bad if not worse – only we never got caught.
I wish I could get 14 days leave and get up to Ayr but it will be a while yet I suppose.
By the way you can have quite a laugh at my expense. Yesterday I went into a lecture on Meterology [sic] and myself and two more lads were so interested we imediately [sic] went to sleep and continued to do so
[page break]
[underlined] 3 [/underlined]
untill [sic] half an hour after the lecture was over half an hour before we awoke and so we missed tea and had to walk 3 miles before we could get anything to eat
So we have decided crime does not pay and have resolved to keep awake.
By the way I went to Aylesbury last Saturday and could not get a bed for the night so I had to go to London and only managed to get one at the station I used to be on, about a year ago – amongst the erks.
[page break]
who have only had their uniforms about 3 days and they were as happy as sand boys – poor devels [sic] they don’t know what they are in for. – Well life is very quiet down here and the weather is medium to bad.
We had one glorious celebration on friday [sic] night – beer and Dancing in the mess celebrating the 25th Birthday of the R.A.F. Well Jean I will have to close up. So, cheerio
Love as ever
