Dear Dad,
I’m getting pretty weary now after a fair amount of tearing around here, yesterday did [indecipherable word] and I hired a car for the day and went out and saw some beautiful scenery and the [indecipherable word] in their native state. It was an old Austin kicked up a dickens of a row, and looked a little the worse for wear but it was good fun. We went out of town to a dance in the evening.
On arrival here I had about £16-10-00 and have since drawn about £6 I’ve spent no less than £16-10-0 and have little to show for it bar the stockings I sent home and a gold signet ring I bought.
I’ve eaten a ton of fruit [indecipherable word], mainly pineapples and bananas as well as dozens of eggs and really we don’t do too badly although we buy [two indecipherable words] meals. Taxi fares have cost us a [indecipherable word] of money although they, too, are fairly cheap and very handy. The dancing here is woeful but some of the girls are alright. I’ve been trotting around [one or two indecipherable words] with one I met at [two indecipherable words] Canteen ([indecipherable word] C.W.O.)
Regards & love once more to all at home.
Pat.
