Dear Sir,
I have pleasure in forwarding the undermentioned citation from the London Gazette dated 11th December, 1945, promulgating the award of the Distinguished Flying Medal to your late son, 1826262 Flight Sergeant Jenkinson. P., Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.
AIR MINISTRY,
11th December, 1945.
The KING has been graciously pleased to approve the following award in recognition of gallantry and devotion to duty in the execution of air operations: -
Distinguished Flying Medal.
Flight Sergeant.
1826262 Peter Raeburn JENKINSON. R.A.F.V.R., 153 Squadron with effect from 27th January, 1945, (since deceased).
It is notified for your information that this award will be presented to his legal next of kin by His Majesty the King at an Investiture to be held at Buckingham Palace, the date of which will be notified to you by the Air Ministry.
