Madam,
I am directed to refer to your letter dated the 1st January 1944 regarding your husband, No. 918424 Sergeant R. H. G. Ellis, Royal Air Force.
I am to inform you with deep regret that a report now received from the International Red Cross Committee states that your husband was buried in Grave No. 103 in the General Section E. E. at Eindhoven-Woensel. Action to presume his death for official purposes will now be taken and a further communication on this subject will be addressed to you at a later date.
In reply to your enquiry, I am to inform you that your husband’s name was included in the casualty list published in ‘The Times’ on the 13th November 1943. On completion of death presumption action his name will again be published and you will be duly informed of the date of publication.
In writing this I am once again to add an expression of the sincere sympathy of the Department with you
