Madam,
I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your claim for the payment of war gratuity in respect of the late Sgt R.H.G. Ellis.
It will be realised that a very large number of such claims are now reaching the AIR MINISTRY and some time must inevitably elapse before they all can be disposed of. It is intended to deal with the claims in the order of the date of death, and every effort will be made to make payments at the earliest possible date.
Meanwhile, it would greatly assist the speed with which applications can be dealt if claimants would kindly refrain from enquiring as to probable dates of payment or requesting payment out of turn.
