Dear Mrs Ellis,
We deeply regret to know from our telephone conversation with you on the 19th November, that you have heard from the Air Ministry that your husband, Sergeant R. H. G. Ellis, No. 918424, has been posted Missing, believed Killed in Action, and we should like to offer you the deep sympathy of all this Department.
The report that your husband lost his life on 31st August, 1943 was sent to the International Red Cross Committee at Geneva in an official German statement.
Further enquiries are being made about your husband’s death and place of burial, and you will be notified without delay when any information reaches the Air Ministry or ourselves.
Many answers are being received to enquiries
