Mr dear Joan
I feel I must write & tell you how deeply sorry Dolph[?] & I were to hear the sad news about Bob & I offer you our deepest sympathy.
I am sure all your friends here in Crowle feel it very much & are hoping & praying that he has not been lost, it is quite possible that he may have landed in enemy territory, so my dear live in hopes & I hope you will have strength given you to bear your
[page break]
burden.
With our love & sympathy
Yours affectionately
