Dear Mum,
Got another letter from you to-day. The last one from Hillside I guess. I imagine it would be lovely up there at this time of year – or by the time you get this. The wattle comes out on the hills at the back about the end of this month doesn’t it. I’d like to see some again – none here of course. I’m pleased that Grandad is so well & still as good as ever at the old crib board. Crib is our chief game here lately – three of us could play & a fourth has since been taught, but we mostly play two handed – either with Syd or Ray. Have some great old battles & the average is about even – perhaps a few in favour of Ray. In a game with Syd before lunch he had three fivers & a ten before the turn up in five minutes. Got 20 out of both. Syd got two 2 [indecipherable number] ‘s in a row against me earlier this morning. Nice fall of rain you had. The rate it comes down over here it would take weeks to get 1 1/2". It nearly always drizzle except for a few moderate storms we had in the middle of summer. Glad Margaret is getting word to her sister – it would be nice to go along & see her sometime if its not too far away. I really must write to Charlie & Margaret one of these days.
Well Mum there’s no more to write about I guess so cheerio for to-day. Love to all at home. Bert XXXX.
