My Dearest Mother, There I am too late for this to reach you and Dad in time for your birthdays, but I’ll certainly be thinking of you both and wishing you the very best. What would you like me to buy you for a present while I’m in England – I can’t think what you’d really like. This well probably reach you around Xmas and in case I can’t cable you from England or even see you then here’s a bright & happy one to you all. Much love to you all, dear mother, Donald
