Dear Mum, Dad, Yvonne & Moira,
Sorry I have not written for a few days, but we are having our exams this week, & I have been swotting quite a bit. I’m not worrying about the ground exams, it’s the final flying test that is the trouble. A lot of chaps go down the chute then.
We finish the course in a fortnight, & I hope to get some leave & go somewhere interesting, & we shall then be posted to S.F.T.S. if we have passed. We shall be staying in the same area.
I saw 49th Parrallel [sic] last night & it was queer to see the German sailors in Winnipeg, & recognise the places.
I’ve managed to get hold of a second hand camera for a dollar & half. It only takes small pictures, but it should be quite good. It’s just as difficult to get cameras here as at home I asked for a cheap one, in Winnipeg & the cheapest they had was $130 (about £27)!
I am writing this at night. I am rather hoping to do my night solo to-night, but it is not too easy so I may not manage it.
I receive your letters & airgraphs regularly, & the airgraphs only take about 14 – 20 days, & its grand to here [sic] from you. Please remember me to everyone
Much love
Terry.
