Dear Mum Pat & Vincent.
Once more I am in the very best of health and still enjoying the experiences of Life. Yesterday I had my first letter it was from Airforce H.Q’s telling me they had cabled the news that I was a P.O.W. to you. I hope the news that I was safe cheered you up, and that you have now given up worrying on my behalf for I assure you there is no need for it. As regards mail, I think if you wrote airgraths [sic] to Auntie Louie in England telling her to rewrite them & send them on to me, I might get mail a little bit quicker, my address is Stalag IVB and [inserted] it [/inserted] is the best address to send letters to. The fine weather is just beginning and the footballs are coming out, I had a kick of a ball yesterday consequently feel very stiff today. There is talk of laying out a pitch for cricket, I hope a pitch can be laid as I can see Test Matches being played by the dozens. Our Camp Theatre opened today after a spell of a few weeks, I am going to see the Drama “Outward Bound” tomorrow. Ralph Piersons has just finished knitting himself a pair of socks with the remains of a two old pair and four needles carved out of wood. Kind regards to everybody at home. Look after yourself Pat! All my love Jim
