My darling, thank you very much indeed for the parcel of washing with the delightful enclosures. You shouldn't have sent us all that choccy, I'm sure you need it as much as we like it. Frances will certainly appreciate the orange. It was very sweet of you indeed to send all the things to us. I have been painting the nursery woodwork today – in an effort not to overtire

Ba, as you warned. She is on duty again today & seems to find the 24 hr business very tiring. So I must see that she doesn't do much at home on her off-day. We bought 2 pints of white enamel & a pint of undercoating yesterday. It's ruined my finances again but paint seems to be getting very scarce indeed, & we must paint the bathroom too. I almost think we ought to have the outside of the house painted, if it’s still possible, & I think I'll try & get an estimate. What do you think about it?
Must go to town now, so write soon again, my darling, Yours always Ursula
