Dear
We have decided to make a total contribution of [inserted] 76 £ [/inserted] in respect of Salary for the period 1st Jany [sic]., 1942 to 31st December 1942. Monthly payments amounting to [inserted] £24 [/inserted] have already been paid leaving a balance due to you of [inserted] £52 [/inserted] As it is probable that we shall be called upon to recover from you any Income Tax due on this payment we are retaining for your account a sum at the rate of 9/- in the £. from which any such demand can be met. Any balance remaining will be held to your credit. We give details of payments as follows:
Gross Salary 1942 76 0 0
Less held to your credit on account of Tax Say 9/- in the £. 34 4 0

Less payments already made 24
Cheque enclosed £17.16 0
All the Staff join in wishing you Good Luck for 1943 and a quick and speedy return.
