Asking if he has had any news of Hedley. If Hedley was a prisoner Bob Grimwade would like to write to him as he had got on very well with him. He has nearly finished his tour as an instructor and hopes to go to P.R.U.

Dear Mr Madgett,
You may remember me – Hedley’s pal at A.F.U. I’m writing to inquire if you’ve had any good news of him since last summer.
If he should be a war – prisoner, I’d very much like to write to him as we got on very well together & he was a nice chap all round.
I’ve nearly finished my turn as instructor & hope to go onto P.R.U. in the New Year.
