Reply to previous letter informing Mr Madgett that arrangements would be made for him to be recorded next of kin to attend Buckingham Palace to receive the Distinguished Flying Medal awarded to his son from His Majesty the King. Not possible to give date of ceremony yet. Notice would be given and one other relative would be allowed to attend. On the back is reply to Under Secretary of State confirming that Mr and Mrs Madgett would attend.

Sir,
In reply to your letter of 11th May, I am directed to inform you that should you so desire arrangements will be made for you as the recorded next of kin to attend at Buckingham Palaceto receive the Distinguished Flying Medal awarded to the late Pilot Officer Headley R. Madgett from His Majesty The King. It is impossible at this stage to give any indication of the date of the ceremony you would be required to attend but reasonable notice would be given. One other person, a blood relative of the deceased officer would be allowed to attend with you.
If for any reason you should not wish to attend, the decoration would be forwarded to you by post.
Please be good enough to indicate your wishes as soon as convenient.

With reference to your letter of the 22nd inst. A495700/43/S.10a I beg to advise that my Wife and myself wiah to attend at Buckingham Palace to receive from His Majesty the King the Distinguished Flying Medal awarded to our son the late Headley R. Madgett.
I not that you will advise me in due course of the date of the Ceremony.
