Dear Cheshire,
It gives me much pleasure to hear that The King has bestowed upon you the Victoria Cross that I feel I must write and congratulate you.
The occasion of the award is your splendid exploit in Munich; but behind it is a background of devoted service, brilliant leadership and sustained achievement in the thick of the fighting throughout the war.
Yours sincerely,
Archibald Sinclair

Wing Commander G.L. Cheshire, D.S.O., D.F.C.,
Royal Air Force,
Morton Hall,
Near Swinderby, Lincs.
