Letter from Leonard Cheshire to Air Ministry director of accounts
Title
Letter from Leonard Cheshire to Air Ministry director of accounts
Description
Acknowledges letter of 13 January 1944. Does not consider that blame for over payment lies with him. Asks that they confirm he actually received the money. Once confirmed he would pay the whole amount by cheque.

Sir,
I am in receipt of your note of 13th January, 1944.
Since I do not consider the blame in this matter rest with me, I would as you to be good enough to confirm I have actually received the money which you day you paid me in error. As soon as I receive the conformation I will forward you a cheque for the full sum.
I can see not conceivable advantage either to you or to me in refunding the over-issue at the rate of one quarter of the monthly issue, neither can I see the need for any proposal for refund other than the obvious and customary method of paying cash.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
