Acknowledges letter of 13 January 1944. Does not consider that blame for over payment lies with him. Asks that they confirm he actually received the money. Once confirmed he would pay the whole amount by cheque.

Notes that Cheshire relinquished acting group captain rank on 25 October 1943 but continued to get paid for that rank until 30 November 1943. This resulted in over payment of £25 5s 8d. Goes on to discuss recovery of the money.

Asks if there is any more news of her son Harold who lost his life on March 2nd 1943. Notes that others survived. She appreciates the kindness of those who have written to her. She still has hope that her son will return. She has read some work about…
