Dear Donaldson
Two Wimpey crews are coming over to you on the 9th of this month – F/O Stephens and F/O Mitchell. They are both Australians, with mixed crews, and both were previously earmarked for posting to India. This posting fell through and now you have got them. They both have extremely good reports, both as regards themselves as Captains and as regards the Crew as a whole, so I don't think you will have anything to grumble about. However, if they do not uphold the traditions of the 11th Operational Training Unit – [deleted] train [/deleted] [inserted] tread [/inserted] 'em in!
I have met Stephens personally, and I think you will like him.
I think I had the Group Instructors' Flight when I last met you; I am now the Deputy Chief Instructor at Oakley, which is a satellite of Westcott. Once more I am in a semi-independent position, which is the next best thing to being completely independent – and is probably as much as I can hope for at present.
I hope the work's going well, and that you are bearing up under the strain; Regards to all those who haven't been posted and to the various bods at Group.
Yours sincerely
