Dear W/C Donaldson.
Home at last! Had a long but very enjoyable wait for my posting home. Saw quite a bit of the South Coast while in Torquay. A chum & I met the crew of an Army Service Corp Launch while there & spent on the average of four days a week with them. Saw some of the Navy also the Army & all told had quite a good time.
Came home on the [ship name indecipherable] arriving home July 17th. Since then have done nothing else but play with my little daughter. Mary Ellen She sure is a lot of fun and the apple of her Daddy's eye.
Had hoped to be out of the A.F. this month but this week received notice to report to [2 deleted characters]J6.S.F.T.S
[page break]
for as the letter reads “A useful purpose” which I take means instructional duties. Came [inserted] as [/inserted] rather a shock as most of my chums are all back in civvies however with the news this week things should improve shortly and maybe I can get back to Civvy St. shortly.
Enclosed are a few snaps I took while on the Sqdn thought you might like to have them for your scrap book.
Thanks again for your friendship and fine leadership while overseas & I assure you I hold very pleasant memories of my year spent in your country [deleted character].
Wishing you and yours all the very best in the coming years.
Syd [character indecipherable] Perkins
