Description

On the right a railway runs along the side with a multi-platform station half way up. This is Hannover Central Station. On the left side just over half way up is a large municipal building, the Staatsoper Hannover with a prominent road running to the top of the photograph from its right. In the far distance open countryside and a small section of the River Leine. Captioned 'Hanover'.

On the right an oblique aerial photograph showing a very badly damaged city. In the foreground most of the buildings have been reduced to rubble with just a few standing badly damaged on the right. In the middle left a church, the Marktkirche Hannover with several damaged multistory buildings to its left. Beyond the church are more city buildings with another church towards the top right. In the distance open countryside, the Georgengarten and straight avenue running through it. Captioned 'Hanover'.
