Dearest David
We have been over to see your parents-in-law elect, & we like them [underlined] very [/underlined] much I only hope they liked us as much as we did them – we felt completely happy with them, as if we had known them for a long time, I think you are very lucky, (or should I say wise) to have chosen such a nice family – Did you tell me that Mrs Edwards would remind[deleted]ed[/deleted] me a little of Reine in looks? if so I had forgotten, Daddy noticed it also, I liked her so much, & Daddy liked him so much.
We went off this morning feeling rather like an elephant & a chimpanzee, we were shy, & it was a cold & foggy day, & we had to wait for nearly an hour at Guildford station on the way there
[page break]
but once we arrived we felt quite happy & returned home feeling our normal selves. I think their house is very nice.
Have I written to you since we settle into our pink & blue homes[?] at Flintham, we [deleted word] have been there a week & we like it very much, I think we shall be very happy there, & we have got two extra bedrooms for the family, & we can always get more accomadation [sic] at the Crompton Arms.
We have not seen much of Charterhouse this weekend, Norman introduced me to "the Uncle" who explained how the D.F.C. was – I found he was a friend of my brother Geralds, & he used to come to tea at Winchester, perhaps he would have been kinder to you if he'd known, I did not see Mr. Thomson to speak to [missing word] Mr. Russell, I should have liked to as they both wrote such nice letters about you, which I am keeping for you to see –
