Captioned 'Commissioned as a Pilot Officer at RCAF Port Arthur, Ontario. Photo shows self on the way to RCAF Monckton [sic] - by train. Had to remove the NCO stripes but officers uniform not obtained until I reached Monckton [sic]. Equipment bought at Eaton's stores. Photo. winter 1942.'
