466 Royal Australian Air Force Squadron was formed in October 1942 as part of 4 Group at RAF Driffield. Although an Australian squadron the majority of its personnel were originally British and it was only towards the end of the war that the squadron gained a dominant Australian character. It moved to RAF Leconfield shortly after forming but returned to RAF Driffield in June 1944 until the end of the war. Originally equipped with Wellingtons it converted to Halifaxes in late 1943.Refinements:
