By August 1939, 82 Squadron was in 2 Group equipped with Blenheims and stationed at RAF Watton. The squadron moved to RAF Bodney in October 1940 and subsequently to RAF Lossiemouth for two months in spring 1941 before returning to RAF Bodney. In March 1942 the squadron transferred to the Far East flying Vengeances and Mosquitos.
