Dear Unk.
One peep out of you about the delay in writing and shall take up the floor-boards and whack you across what goes for a skull with you. I am – at the present moment – just about fed to the back teeth and ready for any murder that might come my way. We are suffering from a surfeit or overdose of RAF disorganisation. We were posted here on the understanding that we were the experienced crews round which this station was building their night flying flights. However they know nothing about us – don’t want to – don’t care and don’t intend to give us any leave until they find out what it
[page break]
is all about. That should be about Easter 1945 so I am fairly safe from the Hun.
This place was built by a bleeding firm of hermits who didn’t want to be near anyone while they were working. It is mathematically central from any of the three nearest towns. If you want a night out there is a lovely eight mile walk any way. Of all the god-forsaken dumps this is the giant panda. One of these days I shall land at a ‘drome near civilisation and immediately be A.W.O.L. for a few weeks.
The brevity precludes levity but gives the new address and I will write again when I really find out what it is all about.
All the best.
