622 Squadron [entry point]
622 Squadron was formed in August 1943 at RAF Mildenhall as part of 3 Group. It was initially equipped with Stirlings but converted to Lancasters in December 1943. At the end of the war the squadron flew in Operation Manna, dropping food to the Dutch, Operation Exodus repatriating ex-prisoners of war and Operation Dodge repatriating service personnel from Italy.Refinements:
