(December 4th). Dear Everybody, I received to-day your letters of the 12th & 17th of October, and I am very glad to know that you have heard from me again. In case some of my letters have gone astray, I will repeat that we can buy nothing from the canteen, but when there is anything in the canteen it is issued to us. I am looking forward to receiving the clothes & cigarette parcels as I am rather short of both,- Did you include sweaters? If not could you manage it in the next parcel please. For next summer a pair of shorts and my swimming trunks would be useful, also a pair of shoes. In my last letter I acknowledged receipt of the snapshots,- they were really wizard. I am still studying fairly hard, but the cold weather makes concentration rather difficult. I have received a letter from Mr Elliot & I will be writing to him during the month. Clive must be a wizard chap now, I am looking forward to seeing him again as soon as possible. Here are some more Christmas greetings in case the others do not reach you, the Red X are giving a special parcel of food for the 25th so we should be O.K. Tell ‘Polly’ H. I will be writing & I have her letter. Must stop, Love & Best Wishes to all. John.
