I wrote to you before but I don’t know if you have got my letter. I have no news from you. Slowly I recover my health, and even now I am already working in the hospital, and on account of Xmas I wish you a Merry Xmas & a quick return home. John have you any news from home. Sincere regards

My dearest Iga, I was awfully pleased to hear from you once again [inserted] today [/inserted] and know that your health is better. I have written to you twice before, and hope you have now received my letters. In case you haven’t, I wish you a very, very [inserted] 48. [/inserted] Happy New Year. Keep cheerful Iga, remember my thoughts are always with you. Yours affectionately,
