Flying began from the site in 1925 but RAF Odiham wasn’t opened as an official RAF station until 1937. During World War Two the station was used by numerous units with Blenheims, Lysanders, Hurricanes, P-40s, P-51s, Spitfires, Typhoons and Mosquitos. In 1953 the station was used for the RAF review by Queen Elizabeth II as part of her coronation celebrations. The review comprised over 300 aircraft on the ground and 600 in the flypast. RAF Odiham is now the home of the RAF heavy lift helicopter fleet.
