My darling Daddy.
Thank you for your letter. Please don’t spend to [sic] much money on the fruits you are sending us, times are much too hard. Please send us some pamflits [sic] if you [deleted] come [/deleted] can get any, ask Marcus and he will get is [sic]. Ask him to get from the “Regal” because they have got a new kind. It has been fearfuly [sic] hot today, but has now cooled down, as it is raining.
We went and saw Mummy, yesterday and today. A certain gentleman of the Bible society gave us a lantern lecture of Malay, [underlined] it was very interesting indeed [/underlined]. I have finished reading the “Scarlet Pimpernel”, [underlined] I have thouroughly [sic] enjoyed it [/underlined]. I am now going to read “The Blue Bungalow” by William le Qeux [sic]. [underlined] He is a good writer. I got 42 marks in Hindi. The 1st boy got 50 marks. We have begun football [deleted] [undecipherable] [/deleted] now, as the rainy season is coming in. We had a good side today. We have been here over three months now, [underlined] they

are simply flying [/underlined]. We are steadily saving 4 annas every we [sic]. We have now saved Rs 6 annas 4.
