Dear Mrs Pickford
I hear your son Sgt. L. Pickford was a member of my son's crew when he was reported missing. I am writing to offer you my deepest sympathy in your sad loss. It's been hard for us parents to give up our sons who were such brave gallant men & who went through with their duty so fearlessley. It's a very [inserted] great [/inserted] blow to me to lose my darling son who meant so much to me & I feel very much for you May God give us strength
[page break]
to bear our great sorrow. My son always thought so much of his crew.
I still keep hoping that there may be a possibility of our dear sons having been saved, but we can only wait patiently for news.
With kind regards,
Yours Sincerely
Ethel W. Pepper
