Dear Jean,
Glad to say another stage of my journey has come to an end, there was nothing outstanding in our trip across the pond, except that we were packed like herrings in a box, which to say the least was most uncomfortable. We docked at an American port, and passed through New York on our journey here by train. We did’nt stop but saw skyscrapers and Statue of Liberty. The Yanks gave us a good reception, and when we stopped at some of the smaller stations quite a crowd collected. We fed and slept on the train, was quite comfortable, the food being excellent. We were glad to arrive here and although this is only a depot we shall probably be here a week or so, in any case your letters will be forwarded on. Shall be writing a letter in a day or so giving you all the 'gen'
Cheerio, hope that [indecipherable word] is still standing the strain, all the best to Mother & Father
Yours Jack
